Forza Horizon 5 - Clips - Racing School
These are clips where I've either shown or seen how to do/not to do something. Should be fairly self explanatory.

Basically, patience. That's it. If they don't make a mistake, you're not fast enough on the straight or through the corners and you can't force them into a mistake then you don't have a right to their position. |
| This is what you do when you make a mistake! GET OFF THE RACING LINE! |
It'd be facetious of me to say "I don't know why Horizon Superstars need told this" but the sad fact of racing in Forza Horizon is basic courtesy is weakness in the eyes of the player base. |
Not only back on the road ASAP but back onto the racing fucking line! Absolute moron. You just know this idiot gets into accidents all the fucking time and blames EVERYONE else. |
TESCOACH - Maybe not the best place or angle to overtake when driving a a power tune? |
Didn't know they where there. This pass is only on when your opponent is on the racing line - TESCOACH had no chance here and should have lifted and waited. No idea how I decided it was a power tune. I suspect in earlier races they passed me on a straight like I was in a tricycle. |
So the player I'm referencing here is HojoKren. Basically I knew he was behind, was staying to the left to give plenty room on the right expecting him to pass there. Dipshit thinks, nah better on the left of them. I mean the number of ways that could have gone wrong there is legion. Don't be this dude. Don't put yourself in risky places. |

This is one of my pet peeves with Horizon Superstars. Very often when someone fucks up, the very first thing they'll do is dive back to the racing line. This is a shitty and unsporting tactic. I know they do this so they don't lose too many places - i.e. they intend to be a roadblock for some poor unsuspecting player. Well imo that's bullshit and a sign that you have a microphalus and are exceptionally insecure about it. Mate, nobody cares about your small dick. Just get the fuck out of everyone's way. As shown here! |
One of the toughest places to be is a clean player in traffic with other players behind. In this game people will not give you time to get through traffic. They see a gap and go for it - doesn't matter if that gap will close, that's a problem for the future. In this example xevi0 didn't have the patience to wait, I got caught up with another player losing it, xevi0 kept their foot in, PIT'd me and sent themselves outside a checkpoint too. A little patience on their part and we would have both got through the traffic. |
So one of the joys of playing a racing game with people who have zero clue about racing is they sometimes do monumentally stupid things. In this example, our Superstar here was a lap down - fuck nose the reason - but instead of letting the leaders through, this idiot just drives his normal line. For the slow thinkers at the back of the class, if you're a lap down and the leaders are coming up behind you, get the fuck off the racing line, get to the side of the track, fucking stop if you have too! |
I got a little kick just as I joined the bridge and it really upset the car, spend the next 20 odd meters trying to get it to settle down (fyi, lift the throttle). So I shat myself trying to keep control - hence the title - but the interesting bit is despite all of that, I stayed left and kept out of everyones way the best I could. |

fr1zex8352 - Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. |
By a significant margin, most contact in Horizon is accidental. However there are times that really test that theory. Just look at this muppet! |
Not sure how to categorise this. I'm going to go with Racing School for reasons to come in a moment. The contact was so innocuous, I was alongside for SOOOOOOOO long and they didn't notice. They turn in, there's very, very glancing contact, they obviously get a fright and fluff the corner then tell ME to look out!. Funny guy. So the lesson here is simple. Improve your awareness of your surroundings. Get into the habit of looking back, glancing at the mini-map (e.g. out of corners) or wear headphones so you hear other traffic. |

I don't do this 100% of the time, hell you'll see instances in these clips where I've hit someone and sailed on past. There will no doubt be situational excuses along the lines of it was their fault somehow. Anyway I firmly believe if we all did this, the racing with strangers would be much less toxic. But somehow we live in a society where we only think of ourselves, we only think how things affect us and never look at the bigger picture. Anyway, the lesson is, if you do something that costs someone time then wait till they've gathered themselves before trying again. YOU caused them to crash so don't be a fucking dick and take their place! |
So there's two schools of thought with missed checkpoints. Do you rewind or do you let the countdown expire and you start from stopped. I always use rewind. RWD maGnum here used the countdown. This is the results. I don't think it answers the question! :) |
So you've seen the video of someone ramming someone back. It's great, it's visceral. The reason we can't have nice things is this clip is boring. What Actual lamp should have done is let me through. THEY hit me, THEY slowed me down. I get it was an accident. Show it was an accident and don't profit from the result of your own mistake. But the actual point is don't ram them back, they probably didn't mean it. Boring videos galore. |

Min ju6635 - Credit where credit is due, I stole this line from you. |
I witnessed this awesome line in this race - this is the clip - right here - the thing I'm talking about right now - and have been using it ever since. |
Racing School 101 - When you fuck up, get off the fucking racing line you cunt! |
Another example of getting out of other peoples way after you make a mistake. |
I just kept this clip as an easy way to find this particular bit of driving. This felt super fast and clean when there's no braking line. I need to do a similar line to see if it was that fast. |
Racecraft - I should have braked slightly earlier, then cut back up their RHS |
This corner is just a lift for me, a very gentle brake going side by side with someone at most. What I should have done was to brake harder earlier and dived up his right hand side. Now the question becomes would they suddenly find some grip and turn in to block that side too. Note I have no issues with anything going on here. This is racing! |
Racing Etiquette - If you make a mistake, get out of the way! |
Detecting a theme here! |
How not to re-join a race track. This idiot should have stayed well out to the right taking a wide line through that corner building up speed and not interfering with other racers. |
